I fabricated the spacers for the tie-downs. I decided I'm throwing the crappy bandsaw out. I grabbed my Dremmel with a nice metal cutting disk, and WOW..what a great job it does.
After leaving a bit of metal to sand off, I pulled out stationary table sander and smoothed the edges of the spacers down so that the spacer was 2 inches long.
I marked the pilot hole for the tie-down and drilled it out on the drill press.
I marked every piece to the corresponding spar, indicating which was top and bottom and then tapped the spacers down to the spar. I also drew reference lines vertically and horizontally in the centres of the spar holes that will take the bolts for the tie-down.
